Evolution of Love: Relationships in the Age of AI and How to Find the One for You
Thu 15 Oct 2026 18:30 - 22:00
Baffo d'Oro Bistro, Stellinger Weg 11, 20255 Hamburg
Love-based marriage — one partner, one house, one bed, one lifetime — is barely two centuries old. For most of human history, "till death do us part" was more of an economic arrangement. Today, a least every second marriage eventually breaks up, and a growing number of people decide to remain single — or choose an alternative relationship format.
Join me for an intimate, thought-provoking evening about the Evolution of Love in the 21st century. Inspired by my bestselling book, New Family, I'll give you an overview of how relationships are actually changing today — from LAT-unions, platonic partnerships, patchwork and tandem families to AI-powered love — followed by a discussion accompanied by nice wine and authentic Sicilian food. It's also a cool chance to meet new people, get inspiring ideas and take part in a conversation that'll follow you home.
I'm a graduate of Columbia University's Journalism School in New York and a former editor of Marie Claire magazine. I speak six languages and have lived in four countries. I've spent the past two decades researching and writing about modern relationships. A New Family became a cultural phenomenon in Russia, despite the censorship and risks covering such topics in a current political climate. I've traveled across six countries to research it, interviewing dozens of couples and experts about how new ways of intimacy, independence, and connection are reshaping our lives.
We're gathering on Wednesday, October 15, 2026 at 18:30 at Baffo d'Oro, a family-owned Sicilian trattoria in the heart of Hamburg run by the third generation: good wine, honest food, and a room small enough that this stays a discussion, not a lecture hall. The chef from Palermo will put together a special 19 euro menu just for us, so come a little early if you want to eat before we start. Tickets are limited, so make sure to book your spot!
